Sujit Choudhry – The Arguably Renowned Scholar
A recent workshop that was held in Kiev, Ukraine saw many key participants attend. One of them was the constitutional law professional, Sujit Choudhry. The U.S Constitution is regarded as one of the most stable constitutions globally which is why other countries keenly refer to it especially during the change of governmental power. That is why on this particular workshop the matters at hand were towards having a democratic Ukraine government.
The presence of significant constitutional scholars helped in coming up with ideas that would benefit Ukraine. Among the experts were: Vladimir Vasilenko who is a member of the UNHCR council and represents Ukraine, Sergyi Holovatyi, who is part of the Constitutional Commission of Ukraine, amongst other participants.
The workshop was a highly productive one considering the level of expertise of the attendees. Sujit Choudhry, being an expert here brought out a few ideas. He argued out that ever since communism collapsed, the country couldn’t find a balance towards democracy in government. It is clear that there is an evident constitutional instability.
Sujit Choudhry pointed out that there should be a clear separation of powers so that they are well-constituted. Another primary concern was that Ukraine has no stable political parties hence it would be difficult for people to know the different opinions of various parties.
