“Riverdale” Actress Takes On The Chainsmokers Role
The summer of 2018 has yet to see the release of an epic anthem to take over the airwaves, but the latest release from The Chainsmokers looks set to take over the radio and TV for the remainder of the year. The accompanying promo for “Side Effects” gives a starring role to Camilla Mendes, an actress best known for her role in the TV show, “Riverdale.” The Chainsmokers have released “Side Effects” with a guest vocal from Emily Warren, a popular collaborator with the DJ duo who are still completing a residency in Las Vegas.
The Chainsmokers have had a rollercoaster ride to success since the DJ duo was formed by Alex pall in New York City, the DJ would be joined by Andrew Taggart in 2012. As a duo, success came quickly for the band after they released their debut single, “#Selfie” to critical acclaim in 2015. The release of the album, “Memories… Do Not Open” in 2017 pushed the duo to the top of the mainstream and electronic dance music charts with new music released every six weeks.
In 2018, The Chainsmokers have been placing quality over quantity by releasing new music more sporadically, including the release of four singles prior to “Side Effects.” An impressive music video has been released to accompany the latest single with Camilla Mendes sure to bring in a number of new fans for the duo. Mendes plays a hotel worker who is told she must work overtime over the weekend in the promo from director Matthew Dillon Cohen. After being told of the decision by her boss, the character of Riley decides to shed her hotel uniform and enjoy herself in the neon-lit hotel by dancing to “Side Effects.” The infectious song returns The Chainsmokers to the light, Summery sound they became famous for, with Alex Pall explaining the band was enjoying the Summer when the track was produced.
